Framingham State College Director of Athletics Tom Kelley announced the hiring of Mike Reed as the Rams head baseball coach in September 2007. 

Coach Reed has ten years of collegiate coaching experience behind him including four years as an assistant coach and head coach at Babson College and five years as the head baseball coach at Clark University in Worcester.  While the head coach at Babson College in 2002, Coach Reed guided the Beavers to a 27-19 record and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Tournament Championship as well as the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament Finals.

Coach Reed spent five years from 2002-2006 in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne Division stationed at Fort Campbell, KY.  While in the Army, Coach Reed deployed for two combat tours as an infantryman in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was awarded several medals including the Bronze Star Medal and the Army Achievement Medal to name a few.

After returning from the Army, Coach Reed served as an assistant baseball coach at Milford High School where the team advanced to the Central Mass. State Finals in 2007.  He also returned to the college coaching ranks as an assistant coach at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.

Coach Reed is a graduate of Salem State College where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and currently resides in Milford.  He takes over the Framingham State baseball program that finished the 2007 season at 9-18 and saw two Rams selected to the All-Conference Team

 

Brian Blumsack enters his first year at Framingham State College after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Lake City Community College in Florida.  While at Lake City, Blumsack coached over 20 players drafted by Major League teams including a 10th round pick for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.  As Pitching Coach, Blumsack’s 2006 staff led the state of Florida with over 400 strikeouts, posted a 3.44 ERA and led Lake City to the Florida Community College Activity Association State Playoffs and a runner up finish in the Mid-Florida Conference.  In 2007 Lake City compiled 36 wins, produced the state, and conference relief pitcher of the year, as well as the conference player of the year.  Lake City's program was nationally ranked in 2006 by Baseball America, and again in 2007 by Perfect Game.
 
Blumsack is currently the manager of the Gately Athletics of the Intercity League, an elite wood bat league in New England, comprised of college, ex-college, and ex-professional players. 
 
As a player Blumsack spent his freshman season pitching for the University of Massachusetts-Amherst (1999) before transferring to Central Florida Community College (2000). After his sophomore season at CFCC, Blumsack finished his playing career at Suffolk University (Boston, MA) where he captained the 2002 team that advanced to the NCAA New England Regional Tournament. Blumsack was a two-sport standout at Malden High School (MA) where he was named, Greater Boston League MVP, Boston Globe All Scholastic, and Massachusetts All Star in baseball as well as a first team Greater Boston League selection as a point guard in basketball.   

Blumsack earned a Bachelors degree in History from Suffolk University in 2003 and a Masters Degree in Administration of Higher Education in 2005.
