FOR STUDENTS Legal Compliance Accessing Academic Support Documentation Criteria Academic Accommodations Extended Time Test Policy Appeals Process Student Rights & Responsibility College Rights & Responsibility Contact Information	OFFICE OF ACADEMIC SUPPORT Director, LaDonna Bridges Faculty Guidelines Academic Accommodations for Students with Disabilities Legal Compliance Section 504, Rehabilitation Act of 1973 УNo otherwise qualified individuals with a handicap Е shall, solely by reason of his or her handicap, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination by any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.Ф Americans with Disabilities Act (1990) Title II: Public Service УЕno qualified individual with a disability shall, by reason of such disability, be excluded from participation in or be denied the benefits of the services, programs, or activities of a public entity or be subject to discrimination by any such entity.Ф Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 272, Section 98 УWhoever makes any distinction, discrimination or restriction on account of Е any physical or mental disability Е relative to the admission of any person to, or his treatment in any place of public accommodation Е Shall be punishedЕ УAll persons shall have the right to full and equal accommodations, advantages, facilities and privileges of any place of public accommodationsЕФ back to top Process for Accessing Academic Accommodations Students must self-identify and provide appropriate documentation to the Office of Academic Support in the Center for Academic Support and Advising (CASA). Documentation will be reviewed and eligibility for reasonable and appropriate accommodations will be determined on an individual basis. The documentation will be retained in a confidential Registry of Students with Disabilities at CASA. The Office of Academic Support will provide students with Documentation Confirmation letters for faculty to confirm appropriate accommodations. Students who do not provide faculty with Documentation Confirmation should be referred to the Office of Academic Support. The Director of Academic Support will work closely with faculty in an advisory capacity to develop reasonable accommodations for students. The Office of Academic Support works with the Office of Disability Services to provide reasonable accommodations. back to top Categories of Disability Blind/Impaired Vision Deaf/Impaired Hearing Physical/Impaired Mobility Cognitive Learning Disabilities Psychiatric Disabilities Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Chronic or Extenuating Medical Conditions Confidentiality Disability documentation is confidential between the student and the Office of Academic Support in the Center for Academic Support and Advising (CASA). Documentation is not shared with faculty unless the student chooses to reveal it. Tutor Hours: Mon to Wed, 9am - 9pm; Thu, 9am - 5pm; Fri, 9am - 1pm; Sun 5pm - 9pm Academic Advising Hours: Mon to Wed, 9am - 7pm; Thu, 9am - 5pm; Fri, 9am - 4:30pm Office Hours: Mon to Fri , 8:30am - 4:30pm Additional Sunday hours for quiet study and computer lab: 1pm - 5pm (no tutors available)
