Professor Milot on her recent Skies and Skylights series
These pieces are digital photographs printed using pigment inks then drawn over with pigment markers. The photographs are views of the sky, sometimes as seen through skylights incorporating the scratches, streaks and dirt into the image. My intention is to fuse the light and color of the sky with the linear configurations drawn on the surface and in doing so, to interrupt the original photograph. I started making these drawings to work out ideas for my photo constructions but now they happen independently of the constructions.
