When the ground begins shaking, everyone should take the following protective action:
Drop - Cover - Hold.
Indoors:
- Drop by taking cover under a nearby desk or table.
- Cover eyes by leaning face against the arm.
- Hold onto the table legs or the side of the desk.
- Remain in this position until the ground stops shaking.
Outdoors:
- Move away from buildings, power lines, masonry walls, and other items that may fall on you.
- Take the drop position or sit down.
Safety procedures after event:
Evacuate the building if it is determined to be necessary. Go to the predetermined emergency evacuation area.
