The next session of College Tomorrow will be held
July 27-August 7, 2015.
Applications for the 2015 program will become available in March.
The mission of College Tomorrow is to encourage students from the Metrowest area, especially those from underrepresented populations, to imagine a future that includes college. College Tomorrow provides high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to experience a university environment and exposes participants to the skills and resources necessary not only to gain access to, but to succeed in, higher education.
If you want to go to college but worry about what it takes to get there, consider applying to College Tomorrow, a free college-readiness program at Framingham State University. College Tomorrow is not an attempt to recruit for Framingham State; instead, the program is designed to encourage young people from the Framingham area to imagine a future for themselves that includes college and to teach the skills they'll need to make that future a reality.
The summer program teaches students how to identify colleges that are right for them, how to apply to those colleges, how to find and apply for sources of funding and how to organize all these steps into a practical plan of action.
In addition, College Tomorrow invites young people to experience college first-hand. During "orientation," participants tour the FSU campus, learn about the benefits of a college education and explore major fields of study. Participants also "enroll" in courses taught by enthusiastic college personnel. These courses focus on writing, reading, mathematics and oral presentation skills—all of which are essential to college success. In addition to developing skills, these courses also challenge participants to rise to the expectations of college-level academic work.
But College Tomorrow is not all work and no play. Throughout the two-week program, participants enjoy lunch in the dining hall and meet inspiring FSU students who tell their own stories of overcoming obstacles in order to succeed in college.
