Plans for Weather Emergency and FSU Commencement
Should a weather emergency be forecast before or during the FSU Commencement, the following applies:
- Should local weather forecasts make the holding of the ceremony inadvisable, we will cancel the ceremony and it would not be re-scheduled. Graduates and guests should monitor Framingham State University’s website (framingham.edu), the Commencement webpage (framingham.edu/commencement), and stumail accounts in the days leading up to the ceremony to stay informed.
- Should a dangerous weather emergency materialize once the ceremony has begun, the ceremony will be cancelled, the Commencement venue will be evacuated, and the ceremony will not be re-scheduled. Dangerous weather emergencies would include high wind conditions and severe lightning storms. In such a circumstance, to the extent possible, graduates and their guests will be given directions from the stage regarding evacuation procedures. Exits from the commencement tent are clearly marked. Please note: Any designated shelter locations would be decided on at the time of the emergency as to not send the guests into the path of the weather hazard.
- If the ceremony is cancelled due to a weather emergency, diplomas will be available for pick-up Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, at the Student Services Center on the fifth floor of the McCarthy Center. Contact the Registrar’s Office at email@example.com if you are unable to pick up your diploma during regular business hours.
