FSU administers the PBT TOEFL at the end of every semester. The exam is free to FSU TOEFL class students; $20 to other FSU students; $30 to non-FSU students.

Intensive Summer Evening Sessions (10 weeks recommended)

The Advanced Bridge program helps English language students transition to university studies or advance their careers. Prospective students should have a TOEFL score of 500 or advanced English skills. The main component of this program is the Transition courses.

Transition courses, taught in an English learner-friendly environment, help students continue to improve their English skills and reduce their accents while gaining experience in researching, writing academic papers, and giving presentations.

Transitions 010 — Academic Writing, Research Techniques, and Public Speaking (5 hours/week) 

This non-credit class is for non-native English speakers who are taking university courses or ELP courses and would like to enhance their academic English skills to improve their performance in the classroom or in their career.  Course content will focus on research, writing, and giving effective presentations.  

Mon/Wed, 6:45pm-9:15pm  
Cost: 10 week: $475 / 5 week: $250 
Session 1: Wed., May 28 - Wed., June 25, 2014
Session 2: Mon. July 7, - Wed., Aug. 6, 2014

Transitions 011—Accent Modification, Public Speaking Career Investigations (5 hours/week)

This non-credit class is for non-native English speakers who are taking university courses or ELP courses and would like to enhance their academic English skills to improve their performance in the classroom and in their career.  Course content will focus on innovative techniques for improving pronunciation and guided research that investigates opportunities for achievement in the American academic system, and in potential careers.  Students will learn how to gain access to interviews and correspond with professionals.

Registration and Payment

To register by mail or fax, download the ELP Registration Form. You may also register in person at the Student Services Center in the McCarthy Center, Room 515.

Payment must be made at the time of registration. Payment may be made by personal check, bank check, money order, Visa*, MasterCard*, Discover Card*, or American Express*. Cash is only accepted between 9:00am and 4:00pm at the Student Services Center (D. Justin McCarthy Center, room 515). Payment is due with registration. Register early to ensure your place in a class.

*Credit card payments can be made in-person in the Student Services Center (D. Justin McCarthy Center, room 515).
