I am glad that I chose to get a degree in Liberal Studies.  It sets me apart from other people looking for a job or career path because I did not major in just one field. I am a jack of a few different trades: English, History, Psychology, Education, Fine Arts and Film Art.  I feel that I am well rounded and I am open to pursuing a career in any field.  Currently I work for a security company and will be promoted to HR at the beginning of the year, 2011.

I took a variety of on-campus and online courses that challenged me to reach my potential.  Positive feedback from my professors and my classmates gave me the confidence to fulfill my goals.  I highly recommend the LIB program to all students, especially older students who need a flexible schedule to pursue their dream of obtaining a bachelor’s degree from an exceptional public higher education institution. I am so proud to be known as a Framingham State alum!

At the completion of the required courses which included literature, writing, speech and earth sciences, plus a variety of history and political courses I felt like I could think on a new level. The instructors were tireless, broad in experience and willingness to get the subject of study across to all of us regardless where we were coming from or heading. To complete the requirements for a college degree had been a life long dream and the LIB degree filled the “bucket” beyond my expectations.

I am a 2009 graduate of the Liberal Studies program at Framingham State College, now Framingham State University. As an adult student, I had to juggle work and family with school. I found the program to be flexible enough to fit into my busy schedule. The life experience credits made it possible for me to expedite my degree, without sacrificing a quality education. My teachers and advisors were extremely supportive, and motivated me to continue moving forward through some personal challenges. The Capstone Experience project allowed me to integrate aspects of my education, and to create a project that I am proud to include in my portfolio. I highly recommend the program.

After completing the Liberal Studies Program at Framingham State University, I now teach Japanese at a community college as a part time faculty. I’m also a graduate student pursuing a Masters in Educational Technology. It wouldn't have been possible where I am today without the program at DGCE.

It was nerve-wracking going back to school after about 20 years of absence and attending a formal academic institution in the U.S. for the first time. I remember meeting my academic counselor, Dr. Nutting and talking with him about the program.  He put me at ease right away and made me believed that I could do it.

The program is designed for the best benefit for students who have a full time job, but wish to continue their education.  Students can take a variety of courses on-campus as well as online, which made my life much easier.  Professors are very knowledgeable, helpful and supportive.  I was also able to use the Tutoring Service for writing my capstone project, which is available for anyone: ESL students, like me, and regular students who wish to improve their writing skills.

I definitely recommend working adults who wish to continue their education to take advantage of Continuing Education programs at Framingham State University and pursue their goals. It opens up new doors for sure!

The LIB program at Framingham State provided me with the flexibility to use “real” world experience towards my degree.  The degree gave me the confidence and the official recognition needed to further my career.  The faculty is there with you every step of the way and has a genuine interest in seeing you succeed.

Framingham State University is a happy place. Whether you are an entering freshman student or a senior student of 89 years of age like me, you will find the staff and the professors ready and eager to help you in your work towards a degree.

Over the years I have studied at several large universities and nowhere have I experienced the interest of the professors in their students as in Framingham. They welcome the chance to exchange information with their students and have the students ask questions and participate in the learning process. Knowledge is only valuable when you are able to share it with others.

Framingham has been a great experience in my life. It will be a valuable experience for you.
