Administrator License Instructions

The list below will guide you through the steps you need to follow to apply for your Initial license. Please make sure you complete all steps in the list. This will help ensure timely processing of your licensure application.

  • Complete the Endorsement Request Form. Return the form to the Office of Graduate Studies in Dwight 204. Endorsement Request Form

  • Order an official copy of your transcript from Framingham State University. On the request form, indicate you want the transcript sent after you've completed your degree. The transcript should be sent to:

The licensure officer will submit your transcript to the state on your behalf during the endorsement process.

  • Go to the Licensure area at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's web site. Log on to your ELAR profile area and select the option to Apply for a new license. Follow the prompts to update your education information. Then, use the following to apply for your Initial license:

When asked which route you are following, select the option which indicates you've completed an approved post baccalaureate program. Complete the remaining screens to apply for your license.

  • In addition to your master's degree, you must also provide verification of three years of teaching experience.  Verification Form (PDF document)

    To expedite the processing of your licensure application, please send the completed verification form to:

    The licensure officer will submit this form with your transcript to the Licensure Division at the ESE during the endorsement process.

  • If you've had a name change (e.g. marriage, divorce, other legal proceeding) while in (or after) your licensure program, you must submit a name change form with appropriate documentation of the name change to the ESE.   Name Change Form (PDF document)
The licensure officer endorses the applications of candidates who have completed all program requirements. The electronic endorsements are completed approximately four to five weeks after the graduation dates in May, August, December and January. To expedite your endorsement (and the licensing process at the DESE), please make sure you have
  1. set up your ELAR profile,
  2. applied for the license, and
  3. paid for the license

by your graduation date. Once your endorsement is complete, the licensure officer will send you a confirmation letter via U.S. Mail.
