Careers in public relations require many of the abilities that English majors develop:  strong communication and research skills, problem-solving, creativity, initiative, and ability to work effectively in teams.  Public relations work involves writing press releases, articles, newsletters, and reports for organizations or businesses, and may include coordinating events and programs.

Writing courses in the Journalism and Professional Writing sequences and the concentrations in Journalism and Professional Writing provide excellent preparation for a career in public relations.
