School Bus Idling - December 2005
Massachusetts State Law and Department of Environmental Protection regulations limit diesel-fueled vehicle idling to no more than five (5) minutes in most cases. There are few exceptions, including: servicing of vehicles and vehicles using refrigerated equipment.
School busses should not be left idling for longer than five (5) minutes at any time. Engines should be shut down while waiting for students.
If you have any questions, please contact Maureen Bagge Fowler in the Facilities Department.
