What are the admission requirements?
Applicants must possess an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education and submit an official copy of their undergraduate transcripts. Two letters of recommendation are required. One letter must be from an employer or supervisor, and the other letter can be from a colleague or faculty member who has taught the candidate at the collegiate level (if candidate has attended classes in the last five years). Also required is a 500-word typed essay on the applicant's philosophy of teaching and education. Graduate applications are available from the site coordinator or may be downloaded from this web site.

Acrobat Reader is required to open the graduate application. If you do not have Acrobat Reader, you may download a free copy from Adobe.com.

How many courses can be taken before being officially admitted to the program?
Students are allowed to enroll in no more than two courses before formal admission to the graduate program. Courses taken before admission must be completion with a grade of B- or better.

When does one apply to the program?
Generally, one would apply at the beginning of a program cycle. The program is designed to offer one complete program cycle at a designated site. If there is further interest at a location to continue the program, a new cycle would begin.

Does the program allow for transfer credit?
A maximum of two graduate level courses, completed with a grade of B- or better, may be transferred into the program with prior approval of the International Education Graduate Committee. The student must be able to show, on an official transcript, that each course was taken for 3 or 4 semester hours of graduate credit, taken within the last five years and received a grade of B- or better. From the course catalog of that institution, the course description should closely parallel the course description of the same course at Framingham State University. Official transcript and course description should be submitted with program application. Professional Development courses, even at the graduate level, will not be accepted in transfer toward a master’s degree.

Does the program accept a foreign undergraduate degree?
An applicant with a foreign degree must submit official transcripts to an accredited evaluation agency. General Evaluation required. Please see approved list of Credentials Evaluation Services.

Does this program hold accreditation?
Framingham State University is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. (NEASC), as well as other national and regional agencies and organizations. The program courses are recognized and sanctioned by the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges.

Can one travel to another program site to take additional courses?
Once you are a matriculated student, you can take a course at another program site if you missed a course when it was offered at your host site. Most sites are able to accommodate this arrangement provided the classes are not full. It is the student’s responsibility to pay for all travel related costs to another site.

After beginning the program, how does one request an official transcript from Framingham State University?

Can I receive teacher licensure in Massachusetts after completing this program?
The programs come with no attachment such as licensure. The programs have been designed for the educator working or teaching abroad. Framingham State University has never submitted these programs to the Massachusetts Department of Education for State approval leading to licensure in Massachusetts as this is not the intent of our international programs.
