The Political Science Department is offering a new class (POSC 300 Moot Court) for this fall 2014. This course is a study of the role of judicial supremacy, judicial restraint, and judicial activism of the government in the American political system and the processes by which they have evolved in the United States. It is designed to give students an understanding of the role of law in the American polity. Students will prepare for participation in an undergraduate moot court competition. Class will involve discussion of court cases, brainstorming sessions to help develop arguments, sessions addressing public speaking and style, and practice sessions in which students present arguments, respond to questioning, and grill and provide feedback to other students.
