The Saturday STEM Academy Middle School Program is co-hosted by Olin College of Engineering and the McAuliffe Challenger Learning Center at Framingham State University. It is supported during its first year by the Metro South/West Regional Employment Board. Funds from this grant will be used over three years to design and implement a middle school outreach program that focuses on METCO students in 24 of the region's schools, middle school students served by the Greater Framingham Community Church, and underrepresented minorities throughout the region. The goal is to recruit 25 students per year who have strong family support for participating in the program. Olin College and the Metro South/West Regional Employment Board are recruiting five to six companies as business partners for this project, which is modeled on the highly successful MIT SEED Academy program.
