Policy for Documentation of Student Absence
As a courtesy, the office of the Dean of Students will provide notice to faculty after appropriate documentation has been provided for the following reasons only:
- Student absence of at least three days for medical reason with documentation from a medical doctor (Please note: Health Services does not provide documentation for missed classes.)
- Student absence due to death of immediate family member (i.e. spouse, parent, grandparent, aunts, uncles, or sibling) with obituary notice, dated church notice, or note from funeral director
- Student absence for jury duty or court appearance (Court provides documentation)
This notice only verifies that we have received appropriate documentation and does not excuse a student from missed classroom work or missed assignments. Students and faculty must work together to resolve any issues relating to absences.
