RamTrack is our online jobs posting database. It is a great resource to search for internships as well as part time, full time, work-study and childcare jobs. You can also choose to post your resume for employers to view. 

How to use Ramtrack for students:
1. Go to http://www.myinterfase.com/framingham/student/
2. Click the link that says “Click here to Register”
3. Fill in all fields that are starred with a red asterisk* (use any email)
4. Click “Register” when done filling in the fields
5. Begin your search by clicking tab that says “Job Search” under RamTrack logo
6. Narrow your search down by selecting specific types of jobs or just click search to see ALL available positions

Attention students looking for on-campus and work-study positions only - In the job search drop-down menu place Framingham State in the organization name for a list of all student on-campus positions.

Pathways Logo

 

The pathways internship program provides support to fund internships for students who do not meet the G.P.A. requirements for the CHOICE program. Pathways supplements internships with choice program employers and other organizations located in the MetroWest region. Interested students may complete the application and return it to Roxana Marrero.

Resume and Cover Letters

Look at our Career Guide for resume and cover letter examples and how to write them effectively. The sample resumes present suggested formats describing your education, work and volunteer experience and the cover letters examples will emphasize how to stress how your specific skills match the job description.

Interviewing

Review our Career Guide for interview preparation strategies.
Schedule an appointment with a Career Counselor. Prior to a job interview you can practice answering typical interview questions by scheduling a mock interview with a career counselor. You also will receive advice on how to make a good first impression with employers including guidance on proper interview attire, good body language and how to avoid common interview mistakes.
The interview is truly the "make or break" moment. This is your opportunity to stand out from the competition. Interviews allow you to prove how you provide value to the organization plus you learn if the organization is a good fit for you. Please refer to the list of helpful resources above!

Mock Interview Assistance

In addition to meeting with a career counselor in the CSER office, please consider practicing for interviews on these two free practice sites:

Interview4 (https://www.interview4.com/) offers job candidates a FREE online video tool to hone interviewing skills, as well as practice video interviewing and your elevator pitch. As more employers adopt video interviewing, expect to be asked to interview online. You need to use your tablet, phone, or stop by the office (MC 412) to use our web cam.

My Interview Simulator, this free program is designed to simulate a mock interview. Before you go to an actual job interview, one should practice and rehearse potential questions that can be asked. This will lead to a successful interview.

  • Be Prepared for Phone Interviews. Employers often use the phone interview to save time and quickly screen potential candidates during the first phase of the interviewing process. As a job seeker, you want to be prepared as if it was an in-person interview.
  • Anticipate questions. You can probably anticipate 90% of all questions that will be asked. For starters, tell me about yourself. What do you know about our organization? Why do you want to work for our organization? What interests you about the position? Behavior-based questions are very popular with employers so you want to use the Situation-Task-Action-Result (STAR) approach to give very detailed answers stressing your specific skills and past experiences. The career counselors can help you identify your unique abilities to describe during an interview.
  • Dress for the part. You don't have to purchase an expensive suit, but you should have a suit. Wear minimal jewelry and use minimal amounts of perfume/aftershave (if possible, avoid altogether).
  • Treat everyone you meet with respect. From the moment you get on the property to the moment you are leaving, you are on your interview. You never know if the person you didn't hold the door for at the elevator is the person who will be interviewing you. 
  • Follow-up after the interview. Sending a "thank you" has become a lost art. Whether it's by email, a handwritten note or a typed letter, thank everyone you meet for their time and consideration. Too many people don't send a thank note so you'll be remembered for following up professionally.

Dressing For Your Interview 

The Framingham State University Suitable Solutions fund offers support for students who, because of financial hardships, are not able to purchase professional interview attire. The goal of the Suitable Solutions Program is to enable eligible students an opportunity to receive a “clothing stipend” of $50 in order to acquire professional attire for internship opportunities and job interviews. Please refer to the list of helpful resources above!

We are also converting our winter Give a Coat/Take a coat exchange to the Professional Attire Exchange. It is in the same location (in the athletic center outside of the gym); you can leave professional attire and/or try on something for that interview you have this afternoon!

The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars

The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars provides experiential education opportunities to students of the Massachusetts public state university system. The Center uses the resources of the nation's capital to provide high-quality learning experiences to enhance student's academic, civic, and professional development, and in this way, seeks to promote future leadership for the public, private, and non-profit sectors of society. The Washington Center's internship placements include positions in government offices, communication organizations, law firms, trade and professional associations, human right groups, and a variety of companies and other organizations. Internships are coupled with required academic courses.

2015-16 CHECKLIST

Students must meet with the Internship Coordinator, to review academic, financial aid, registrar, and application considerations as early as possible.

Students must meet with their academic advisor early in the process and get proper approvals.

The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center’s Internship Challenge

The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) is excited to announce the launch of the next round of our Internship Challenge! This year-round workforce development program focuses on enhancing the talent pipeline for Massachusetts life sciences companies by providing college students and recent graduates with hands-on work experience through internship opportunities at life sciences companies. The program creates hundreds of new internships each year by enabling small companies to hire paid interns. Since 2009, the MLSC has facilitated the placement of nearly 2,800 internships at more than 600 companies across the Commonwealth. 

Objectives of the Internship Challenge include expanding the pool of prospective employees who have practical experience, enhancing opportunities for mentoring, enabling more students to explore career opportunities despite the challenging economic environment, and providing to students interested in working in the life sciences a peer network through educational and informational networking events.

The program will offer paid internships to around 500 college students and recent graduates who are considering career opportunities in the life sciences. Host companies will commit to providing a dedicated mentor and meaningful internship opportunity that relates to the academic focus of eligible students. Studies have shown the value and necessity of providing students with paid internships, and we hope that this opportunity to explore a career path in life sciences will enhance the students' academic training.

We accept applications from eligible students via our website year-round. The application period for this summer is now open and there is no deadline!

Study Abroad Internships for Academic Credit

If you are considering completing an internship for academic credit, why not complete it while studying abroad? Information on program choices, financial aid, transfer credit, and more is provided during Study Abroad Information Sessions.
