Promoting Faculty and Student Work in our Remote Environment – March 26, 2020

Dear Faculty and Staff,

A group of us are working on an effort to ensure that we can promote the work of our faculty and students during our time in this virtual learning environment. We want to highlight the research, art, projects and other efforts taking place in our remote classrooms through social media, the website, and through direct e-mails sent to our community.

As the semester progresses, we are asking faculty and staff to share these stories so that we can help promote them. Photos, stories and videos should be sent to a new e-mail account: studentwork@framingham.edu (If a video is too large, you can use dropbox or OneDrive to send it to me directly).

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Keep it visual. Social Media in particular is a visual platform, so photos and videos are ideal.
  • Depending on the number of submissions, we cannot guarantee we can promote everything, but we will do our best to make sure we are sharing a broad range of things that are happening.
  • We encourage student clubs to let us know what they are up to. We have already heard about good stories from these groups, so if you advise a student club, please let them know about this.
  • Faculty/Staff do not need completed student sign-off forms for photo/video intended for social media. Students should, however, be made aware that you intend to use their photo/video for this purpose and be allowed to decline. If you think you have something that would be nice to use on the website, it’s safest to have sign off forms completed electronically. I have attached those forms to this e-mail.

This is a new experience for all of us. Let’s make sure students continue to get recognition for their outstanding work and that people know that exceptional teaching and learning continues to take place at FSU.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Members of the COVID19 Subcommittee on Promoting Student Work
