Update on face coverings while on campus – April 23, 2020

Dear Faculty and Staff,

On April 15, the Framingham Board of Health and Mayor Yvonne M. Spicer issued a Joint Order Relative to the Operations of Essential Services mandating the use of clean face coverings for employees and members of the public when entering or working at an essential business within the city.

FSU remains subject to the Commonwealth’s requirements and restrictions, but given our location in the heart of the City of Framingham, I recommend that members of the FSU community located on campus comply with the city’s joint order both on and off campus.

Please note the city’s requirements noted here in part:

1.  All members of the public aged two years and older entering any essential businesses as defined by Governor Baker’s COVID-19 Executive Orders, including but not limited to grocery stores, pharmacies, laundromats, home improvement stores, restaurants(including exterior pickup sites), shall wear a clean face covering, such as a fabric face mask, scarf, or bandana, over their mouth and nose, and exercise social distancing in accordance with CDC guidelines Operators of essential services shall ensure their customers comply with this requirement.

2.  All members of the public aged two years and older entering, exiting, or occupying common areas of any multi-unit residential or commercial building shall wear a clean face covering, such as a fabric face mask, scarf, or bandana, over their mouth and nose, and exercise social distancing in accordance with CDC guidelines.

3.  All employees of all essential services shall wear a clean face covering, such as a fabric face mask, scarf, or bandana, over their mouth and nose, and exercise social distancing in accordance with CDC guidelines. Operators of essential services shall ensure their employees comply with this requirement.

If you have difficulty making or securing the face covering referenced in the joint order, please let your supervisor or residence life staff know so that they may assist you in securing a face covering for your use. Supervisors may contact Ilene Hofrenning in the Health Center, who has been coordinating the distribution of face coverings that the University has acquired.

Thank you for your ongoing vigilance to these measures as we all do our part to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

Sincerely,

Javier
