Framingham State University is excited to announce the hiring of Dr. Lauren Nolfo-Clements as its new Dean of the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), effective July 15th, 2024.

Nolfo-Clements has experience as a faculty member, department chair and academic dean in higher education. She is currently the Associate Dean of Administration, Operations & Planning in the College of Arts & Sciences at Suffolk University in Boston.

Prior to the that, she served seven years as Chair of the Biology Department at Suffolk University. She earned her PhD from Tulane University in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.

“I am really passionate about STEM-focused education and experiential learning that allows students to jump right into the career of their choice,” says Nolfo-Clements. “I’m excited to join a public institution and have the chance to work with first-generation college students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to pursue higher education.”

Nolfo-Clements says she is looking forward to meeting the community and learning about what people love about FSU, as well as what can potentially be improved upon.

“I’ll be interested in finding ways to make it easier for students to move through their academic experience,” she says. “From onboarding to graduation, we want students to love their time at the University.”

Nolfo-Clements has experience working with industry, as well as state and federal partners, to align curriculum with student interests and workforce needs.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Nolfo-Clements join our team at Framingham State,” says FSU President Dr. Nancy Niemi. “She brings a broad range of prior experience to this leadership position and will help ensure that our College of STEM continues to thrive moving forward.”

Dr. Margert Carroll, FSU’s founding Dean of the College of STEM, will step down in July to return to her prior role as a tenured faculty member in the Biology Department.
