Nov 21, 2023

Led by Tournament MVP Anna Szymanski, the fourth seed Framingham State University volleyball team upset third seed MCLA 3-2 earlier this month to capture the 2023 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Tournament Championship. The win earned the team an automatic bid into the Division III NCAA Tournament, where they would go on to fall to nationally ranked Ithaca.

Szymanski, a graduate student and outside hitter for the Rams, averaged 14 kills and 8.3 digs per match in the tournament to earn MVP honors. The victory continues a run of success for the program, including a regular season championship in 2022 and a tournament championship in 2021.

Following the tournament, freshmen middle blocker Natalie Reynolds was named the 2023 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Rookie of the Year as the Rams land four on the 2023 All-MASCAC Volleyball Teams.

Szymanski and senior middle hitter Hailey Sanders have been selected to the first team, while sophomore setter Stella Bailey and Reynolds have been voted to the second team.

In other fall sports news, the Football Team beat Worcester State 41-6 to finish the season at 5-4 and the men’s soccer team finished with a strong 11-8-1 record.
