Dr. Nowak Borrego manages the work of the Dean of Students Office, oversees the offices in Student Affairs, and is the Title IX Coordinator for Students. She has worked in higher education for over 30 years and has worked in Student Affairs, Academic Affairs and Enrollment Management and advocates for keeping the student experience a priority in decision and policy making. VP Nowak Borrego earned her Associates degree in Fashion Buying and Merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Bachelors in Psychology and Business from the University at Buffalo, Masters in Student Personnel Work from Indiana State University, and her Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Boston College. In addition to her work with students she enjoys family time with her husband, two children, and dog, experiencing new cultures when traveling, and any kind of art – dance, visual, music, performance.  She is a big fan of musicals.

Glenn Cochran

Dr. Cochran has worked in higher education for over 30 years, and began working at FSU in 1997.  He has worked in various areas within student affairs and has focused much of his work on access, equity and supporting student development and academic success. A first generation college student, he earned his Bachelor’s degree from Westfield State University, his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from St. Bonaventure University, and his Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Massachusetts Boston. His research interests include public policy, implementation, effecting change, and AOD prevention. Dr. Cochran provides oversight to Residence Life and Housing, the Counseling Center, Health Center, and Veterans Services. When he is not working Dr. Cochran enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, cooking, and sports.

Rachel L. Lucking

Rachel has been at Framingham State for over twenty years in different roles. Currently, the Center for Student Experience and Career Development and Campus Ministry report to Dean Lucking.

From the very beginning of an FSU student’s experience, Rachel partners with the admissions team to welcome accepted students through programs and outreach.  Once students begin their journeys at FSU, Rachel coordinates campus-wide traditions such as Homecoming and Family Weekend in conjunction with campus partners.   As a member of the Dean of Students office, she is available to assist students in being successful and connecting to campus resources. 

Within the Student Development department, Rachel supports the assessment projects of the offices. Additionally, Rachel serves as a Title IX mediator on campus.

Jay joined the “FRAMily” in 2011 and served in multiple roles in Student Affairs before joining the Dean of Students Office in 2022. The offices of Community Standards and Student Support & Advocacy report through Jay as they provide guidance and services to the University community. Jay is available to assist students with any questions or concerns they may have throughout their college experience. Jay is also proud to support and serve our students as a member of the Student Assistance and Threat Assessment Teams.

Prior to coming to Framingham, Jay worked in Residence Life at Springfield College, where he earned his M.Ed. in Psychology after earning his Bachelor’s degree from Bryant University. In his free time, Jay enjoys practicing jiu-jitsu, playing games with friends and seeking out unique eats with his wife.

The Coordinator of Student Support and Advocacy works in collaboration with the Dean of Students to manage tasks related to the operations and services of the Dean of Students' Office, manages programs directly related to food and housing insecurities, and coordinates support for commuter students.

Peter Gillies, Ed.D., J.D.

Dr. Gillies, assists the Assistant Dean of Students of Community Standards, Outreach & Support in the investigation and resolution of student conduct complaints. Works in collaboration with residence life staff to facilitate the communication of community standards and expectations to the student body and to provide a consistent, coordinated response to areas of concern. Provides educational programming in support of the University's mission to foster student development in the areas of ethics, integrity and respect. Pete earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University in Music Education. He taught public school music for five years. During that time, he earned his Master’s Degree from UMass Lowell. He enlisted the U.S. Army as a Tuba Player and was appointed as a Warrant Officer/Bandmaster in 1995. During his time in the Army, Pete earned his Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. After retiring from the military in 2013, Pete attended law school and earned his J.D. from the Massachusetts School of Law. He practiced law as a sole practitioner following graduation and joined the staff of Framingham State University in January 2023.

Robin A. Hamilton KurKomelis, MHR

Assistant to the Dean of Students Office

Robin KurKomelis has been on staff at FSU for 10 years.  Having worked mostly in the areas of administration and staffing in non-profit organizations, she is familiar with communications, operations, and staffing across an organization’s work place.  She is particularly experienced in the areas of directing the administrative functions of Student Affairs and the Dean of Students Office at FSU.  

Robin's experience at FSU began in 2014 as a contract employee in The Gatepost, CASA and The Advising Center before finding her permanent home in the Dean of Students Office.  As a working commuter student, she completed her undergraduate degree in English/Music at the University of Southern Maine and completed an HR Certificate from FSU only to return to complete her Masters Degree in the HR Management program.  Robin is proud to have been a commuter and Generation One student!
